What is Stainless steel cartridge filter housing 10×40

The fine filter housing, also known as the cartridge filter housing, is a part of tubular filtration equipment that can be used in various industries. The fine filter is encased in a filter housing called a housing and is used to remove unwanted particles, contaminants, and chemicals from the liquid. The fine filter element comes into contact with the water, liquid or solvent to be filtered, the solution flows inside the housing and passes through the filter element.

    How to classify fine filtration?

Based on how to retain filter residue, fine filters are divided into 2 types:
    • Surface filters
    • Depth filters

    Surface filters

Surface fine filter prevents solids/contaminants from penetrating through the filter core. It traps them outside the filter element and keeps it on the surface until the filter is clogged and cleaned.

Surface fine filtration refers to the flow of liquid through a layer of material that restricts surface particles. The size of the surface fine filter slot is smaller than the average size of the particles to be filtered.

After a period of operation, the surface of the fine filter becomes fouled on the outside by particles, which increases resistance and will restrict flow beyond acceptable limits. Then, it is time for the filter surface to be cleaned and reused.

Surface fine filters are relatively cheaper and have a shorter shelf life. The mechanical durability of surface fine filters is poor (except for filters made of stainless steel or metal).

For example: Pleated paper filter, cellulose filter

    Depth filters

The deep fine filter retains all dirt, sized pollutants and suspended solids in the environment. Depth filtration refers to a thicker/or multiple filter layer that creates a difficult path that obstructs particles and restricts their passage.

The size of the particles to be filtered is much smaller than the average pore size of the filter. Contaminants move through the deep fine filter and become trapped there, gradually the pores in the filter become clogged and must be cleaned using a backwash fluid flow or replaced with a new filter.

Compared with the surface fine filter, the deep fine filter is more expensive but it has a longer shelf life. The mechanical strength of deep fine filtration is  high

For example: Winded fiber filters, ceramic filters and powder compression filters (Sintered filters – metal)

What is the application of fine filtration?

Fine filtration is extremely widely used in water treatment and industrial production

    • Pre-filter water before entering the RO system and other membrane types (UF, Nano)
    • Large capacity industrial water filtration
    • Filtering swimming pool water (usually using surface filter core)
    • Oil removal and particle filtration in refineries and petrochemical plants
    • Liquid filtration in the food and beverage industry
    • Application in pharmaceuticals
    • Petroleum refinery and chemical plant
    • Filters inks, paints and special coatings
    • Electroplating filters chemicals
    • Cosmetics and personal care
    • Made in wine and fish sauce
    • Brew beer

How to clean industrial filter cores?

Industrial fine filters are widely used in industries such as pharmaceutical, chemical, ink and paint, food and beverage, automobile manufacturing, cement industry, petroleum, oil refineries, petrochemical, etc. It is important to clean these filter cartridges to ensure that they filter consistently over a long period of time.

Industrial filter cores provided by Song Phung have high dirt holding capacity, are easy to install, clean and maintain. The fine filter element is sturdy, has a solid quality core and has well-formed layers, so cleaning and installing them is very easy.

Some filtration systems allow backwashing and have a CIP system design. But most have to be taken out of their shells, sterilized and washed. When not in use, these cleaned filter cartridges are dried and sealed or vacuumed to prevent contamination or wear.

When do you need to replace the fine filter core?

It’s important to know when to replace your filter cartridge. Fine filters may come with a general guideline suggesting the number of days it should operate – for example, once every 30 days or once every 45 days based on its ability to hold dirt. However, the number of days a filter lasts also depends on the contaminant concentration in the filtered liquid.

When your pressure differential reaches the preset value – say 10psi, you know that the filter element is clogged and needs to be replaced. Determining the pressure difference is simple by looking at the pressure gauge installed before and after the fine filter.
